Water in the river was still a little on the high side at 3.0'. I was told at the landing that the "spawn was on" with fish being caught against the cypress trees, but I only managed to pick up 2 crappie. 

I fished the first canal going down only, and had company all morning with only one other boat. He said he had 4 or 5 right against the trees. The water was still on the cold side, but he said that a friend had caught 25 or so in there a week or so ago. There was still a current in the river, and I was glad to catch my first fish since late November last year.
