I got in a solo week day trip up the Mermentau to the Fork. Paddled the kayak 5 miles for 11 smallish crappie and 4 fairly nice ones. One did go 13 inches which is big for me.

It was very hot, but not as bad as the last trip we made to Henderson. For some reason the water surface is even cooler to the touch in the Mermentau and there was a little breeze.

All were caught on Black/Chart tight line. There was a lot of barge traffic that seemed to have a negative effect on some of the spots that were good last time I was there.
