Went down hill from earlier in the week as the black water is ever changing. Only caught 5 small crappie where there had been 17 in the exact spots. The water was still draining out a little with the black water.

Met the friendly guy that's always around up there and he was having no better luck. He said that he had caught quite a few limits in the last year up in that region. He talked about the warm up in February and the need to get the fish on the edge of the swamps in 1.5' of water with a slip cork set at 8".

His boat is an Xpress with the "X" missing. The water at Mermentau was down around 2.4'.
