The gage was at 3.3' at Mermentau and while paddling the yak wasn't too bad the fishing was a bust. It seemed like too much current up and down the river for me to figure out how to catch anything. I did manage to paddle the kayak 7.2 miles with and against the current.

The good thing was that I got to meet a friend from crappie.com known as Shallow Runner. He even gave me a few of his hand tied jigs and a few pointers on the river environment.
