I met up with Daily Fishin at Mermentau and we launched our kayaks at first light and headed up river. We went all the way to Nezpique and up to the hidden oxbow. We managed to catch 6 sacalait 4-6' deep around logs. We paddled 6-7 miles altogether and stayed about an hour to long or after 3:00 pm.
We saw a neat thing in a guy harvesting those black wasps with a reversed leaf blower. He was taking them for medical use as some kind of antivenom.
I'm pretty sure that this was the worst case of dehydration that I've ever experienced. My tee shirt was wet like I had dropped it over board, and when I got home I slept for 12 hours which is something I never come close too.
I've been to Walmart now and loaded up with fluids to bring along. I plan to load up on gator aid and water and avoid that misery again.
